Another Word...
Whether you realize it or not, the main mission of the United Methodist Church throughout the world is "to make disciples of Jesus Christ." This mission is clearly defined for us in our Book of Discipline and should help us decide each and every thing that we do as a congregation.
At the same time discipleship is one of those words that we throw around in the church so much that sometimes I am afraid that it looses its meaning. So, for the first few months of 2008, Pastor Cindy and I are going to be focusing our messages in worship on what it means to be a "Disciple."
It is our hope that we will gain a clearer understanding of what it means to be a Disciple of Jesus and how we can build up disciples for Jesus Christ in our church for the world we are called to serve.
