In Our Church Blessing Bear Ministry What is a Blessing Bear Ministry? It starts with a lot of cute cuddly Teddy Bears that have a tag tied around their neck that says; “This Blessing Bear has been among the congregationof Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. It has heard the Word read and taught, prayers prayed, and songs of praise and worship sung.It has been loved and hugged. Now it comesto you with blessings of worship and love.” This Ministry is intended to bring comfort to people of ALL ages suffering from physical, mental, or spiritual stress. These bears sit among us in Worship on Sunday mornings. We ask the congregation to hold and love them during worship. They represent our love and caring as people of faith. Then when you know someone who could use some extra comfort and love you are encouraged to take a bear to them. We hope that visitors and members will feel free to take a Teddy bear. Our bears have traveled all over the United States but they have also gone with our missionaries to Lucknow, India and to Africa with members of a children’s choir. That shows Jesus to our friends and family everywhere! As of the end of 2015 we have placed over 675 teddy bears in the sanctuary! Normally there are around 40 bears in the pews to choose from.
