Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 12

Mondays at 7:00 p.m.

“Boy Scouting, one of the traditional membership divisions of the BSA, is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.  The program achieves the BSA’s objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness.”                                        http://www.scouting.org/

 Venture Crew 12

“Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade and under 21 years of age.  Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.”    http://www.scouting.org/

History

On April 30, 1951, the Methodist Men’s Group of Phelps Methodist Episcopal Church, South received certification as the Chartering Organization for Boy Scouts of America Troop 12.  In those fifty years of service to the community of Parkersburg, over 500 young boys took part in the ministry of scouting along with nearly 100 adult leaders.  Over 70 young men have received their Eagle Scout Award.  Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, successors to Phelps Chapel, has proudly supported Troop 12 for over 58 years.  The United Methodist Men’s Group of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church  continue to strongly support the troop.  Troop 12 is strategically positioned to provide the scouting experience for the 21st Century for hundreds more young men.   Come and join along.
