Lord!"

Ministries of Stout Memorial UMC
We have a variety of ministries available here at Stout Memorial, We hope you will get to share your gifts by getting involved.
Music Ministry
Our Music Ministry is a favorite of many of our members as it allows us to come together and to worship and praise the God we serve through song and to get to know many wonderfully gifted people. Our music ministries include The Chancel Choir, the Praise Hymns, our Children's Choir & Hand Bells, The Majestic Ringers (hand bell choir), The Praise & Worship Team (contemporary Christian music).
United Methodist Men & Women
The United Methodist Men and The United Methodist Women are the two Adult Ministries that we are proud to have as a part of Stout Memorial. We invite all men and women to join and share your gifts through serving.
Family Ministries
Our Family Ministries are a vital part of our work here at Stout Memorial. We believe that raising our children to value their relationship with Jesus Christ is one of the most important roles we have as Christians. From preschool all the way through to high school graduation we offer several classes and groups to nurture our children in the love of Christ. Our Family Ministries include our Nursery program, Preschool, K.I.D.S. Life, and The Journey.
Blessing Bear Ministry
What is the Blessing Bear Ministry? It starts with a lot of cute cuddly Teddy Bears that have a tag tied around their neck that says;
“This Blessing Bear has been among the congregation of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. It has heard the Word read and taught, prayers prayed, and songs of praise and worship sung. It has been loved and hugged. Now it comes to you with blessings of worship and love.”
This Ministry is intended to bring comfort to people of ALL ages suffering from physical, mental, or spiritual stress. These bears sit among us in Worship on Sunday mornings. We ask the congregation to hold and love them during worship. They represent our love and caring as people of faith. Then when you know someone who could use some extra comfort and love you are encouraged to take a bear to them.
We hope that visitors and members will feel free to take a Teddy bear. Our bears have traveled all over the United States but they have also gone with our missionaries to Lucknow, India and to Africa with members of a children’s choir. That shows Jesus to our friends and family everywhere!
As of the end of 2015 we have placed over 675 teddy bears in the sanctuary! Normally there are around 40 bears in the pews to choose from.

Visitation Ministry
This team works to keep in touch with the members of Stout Memorial who are unable to attend church regularly. It is our goal that no member should ever begin to feel disconnected from the congregation or that they are no longer a church member.
Our Visitation Ministry consists of several smaller ministries;
Home-bound Visitation, Birthday Card Shower, Valentine Card Shower, and the Sunshine Bag Ministry.
Home-bound Visitation
Our team visits our older members that are home-bound or are in assisted living or nursing homes.
Birthday Card Shower
Our birthday card ministry, for our members who are turning 90 or older and are home bound or in senior living facilities, began in March 2015. Birthday bags are provided in the Gathering Space two weeks before each birthday. An assortment of cards will be available to sign or write a little note in, or you may bring your own card. A list of each months birthdays will be included in the newsletter.
Valentine Card Shower
Our Valentine Bag Ministry, who are either home bound or in senior living facilities, begins in late January with the collection of cards and small gifts. The Visitation Team Collects these items and puts them in decorated bags, usually on display in the Gathering Space. Once the bags are ready, they will be delivered on or before Valentine's Day. We encourage the congregation to help with the deliveries. Watch for beginning and delivery date in the newsletter.
